Dr. Sandhya has expertise in conducting uniquely tailored comprehensive psychological assessment using valid, objective and norm-referenced measures. A solid psychological assessment does not only focus on a couple of tests or on a parent’s weaknesses alone but also on a parent’s competencies and strengths to effectively determine sources and effective solutions to the problems faced by family members. Dr. Sandhya is trained, sensitive insightful of the expressions of power, gender-inequity, and micro-aggressions that can play out during the evaluation process.
Dr. Sandhya holds a PhD in Psychology as an Andrew Mellon Fellow from The University of Chicago. She also holds an M.A. from Trinity College, Cambridge University, U.K. as a Cambridge Commonwealth Scholar and Rajiv Gandhi Fellow.
In the past, Dr. Sandhya has also provided psychotherapy at hospitals and health centers in Chicago, Illinois such as The University of Chicago Hospitals, The Chicago Center for Family Health, The Family Institute at Northwestern University and Columbia Michael Reese Hospitals.
She has presented at several academic conferences around the world and at local women's organizations, such as the International Women's Associates of Chicago. Currently, she is on the steering Committee of the Ryan Licht Sang Bipolar Foundation, a foundation dedicated to fostering awareness, understanding and research for early-onset Bipolar Disorder. Dr. Sandhya has served as a peer-reviewer for academic journals such as Culture, Health, and Sexuality and the Journal of Marriage and Family. She is a Fellow of the Cambridge Commonwealth Society.
